Description
The Tichu 2024 card game is a highly strategic partnership card game where teamwork, timing, and clever card combinations determine victory. Two teams of two players compete to empty their hands while scoring points through powerful plays and bold declarations.
Originally inspired by traditional climbing card games such as Zheng Fen, the Tichu 2024 card game has become a modern classic among card game enthusiasts. Its combination of tactical depth, team coordination, and dramatic moments has made it a favorite for competitive and casual players alike.
In this edition, the Tichu 2024 card game is provided in Spanish, and an additional printed set of rules in English will also be included separately. This makes it accessible for bilingual groups or international players who prefer English instructions.
Team-Based Gameplay
The Tichu 2024 card game is typically played with four players divided into two teams. Each player works together with their partner to score points and win tricks while trying to be the first team to reach 1000 points.
Players must carefully plan their plays to support their teammates, block opponents, and maximize scoring opportunities.
Additionally, the game includes optional rules for 3 or 6 players, offering flexible group sizes.
Card Combinations and Climbing Mechanics
During play, a player must either beat the current combination on the table or pass. The types of combinations allowed depend on what was played first in the trick.
For example, players may play:
-
Single cards
-
Pairs
-
Sequences of pairs
-
Straights
-
Full houses
Once a combination is played, only stronger combinations of the same type can be used to beat it. If all players pass, the player who placed the winning combination collects the trick and begins the next one.
This climbing system creates constant tension as players try to manage their hands while predicting their opponents’ moves.
Special Cards
The Tichu 2024 card game uses a deck based on the standard 52-card deck, enhanced by four unique special cards:
-
Mah Jong (1)
-
Dog
-
Phoenix
-
Dragon
Each special card introduces unique strategic effects that can dramatically change the flow of a round.
Scoring and Key Cards
At the end of each round, teams score points from specific cards they captured:
-
5s are worth 5 points
-
10s are worth 10 points
-
Kings are worth 10 points
Each round contains 100 total points from cards, but special bonuses and penalties play a major role in the game.
The Tichu Call
Before playing their first card, a player may boldly declare “Tichu.”
By doing so, they predict they will be the first player to empty their hand. If they succeed, their team earns 100 bonus points. However, if they fail, their team loses 100 points instead.
Players may also call Grand Tichu earlier in the round, after seeing only part of their initial cards. This riskier declaration is worth ±200 points, making it one of the most dramatic moments in the game.
Double Victory
If both players from the same team empty their hands before either opponent, they achieve a double victory.
In this case, the round immediately ends and the winning team scores 200 points, ignoring card points while still applying Tichu bonuses.
A Legendary Strategy Card Game
The Tichu 2024 card game offers deep strategic gameplay that rewards coordination, memory, and bold decision-making. Every round presents new opportunities to outplay opponents and support your teammate.
Because of its unique mechanics and partnership dynamics, the game continues to be one of the most respected climbing card games in the modern tabletop scene.
