Description

The Walkie Talkie card game is a fast and energetic cooperative card game where communication and quick thinking are essential. Players work together to discard all their cards by transmitting clever codes that connect letters and colors found in the center of the table.

Designed by Sheila Santos and Israel Cendero, this lively game delivers fast-paced gameplay and plenty of laughs as players race against the clock to achieve the highest score possible.

The Walkie Talkie card game supports 2 to 8 players, with games lasting between 1 and 4 minutes, making it an ideal party game for groups who enjoy quick challenges and creative communication.

A Cooperative Communication Challenge

At the start of the game, the 50 cards are shuffled and divided into two decks of similar size. One of the decks is flipped over before shuffling again so that cards showing letters and colors are mixed together.

Two cards are then placed in the center of the table, with one showing a letter and the other showing a color. These two elements form the basis for the codes that players will use during the game.

Each player receives six cards, which must remain face down at all times so that no one can see their own cards.

Simultaneous Gameplay

In the Walkie Talkie card game, everyone plays at the same time. There are no turns, and the game is played under a time limit calculated at 30 seconds per player.

To discard a card, a player must announce a valid code that creatively links the letter and color displayed in the center of the table.

Almost any type of word or phrase is allowed as long as it logically connects the two elements. However, players cannot repeat a word that has already been used or simply say the name of the color.

The rest of the group must quickly decide whether the code is valid. If the group rejects the code, the player receives a penalty.

Special Codes

If a player becomes stuck and cannot think of a valid code, the game provides two special commands that can help keep the action moving.

  • Change: allows the player to flip all the cards in their hand

  • Short: allows the player to pass their cards to the player on their left

These options create additional opportunities for strategy and cooperation.

Score Together

The game ends when the time runs out or when all players have successfully discarded their cards.

Players then calculate their score by counting the asterisks shown on the letter cards that were successfully played.

If time runs out before all cards are discarded, players subtract one point for each remaining letter card still in their hands.

The Walkie Talkie card game does not focus on winning or losing. Instead, players aim to improve their performance and beat their previous scores.
